Opnext, Mobius Semiconductor partner for 100G coherent transponder ADC

Opnext Inc. (NASDAQ:OPXT) says it has developed a low-power quad CMOS analog-to-digital converter (ADC), designed for use in a 127-Gbps polarization-multiplexed quadrature phase-shift keying (PM-QPSK) modulation scheme. Opnext verified the digital signal processing (DSP) and forward error correction (FEC) algorithms on its real-time 100G coherent platform, which it used in a trial with AT&T announced earlier this month.

Aegis Lightwave intros tunable receiver for wavelength-agile PON FTTH

Aegis Lightwave has announced a new wavelength-tunable receiver for wavelength-agile PON will be demonstrated at OFC/NFOEC 2010 in Booth 419. Results of a laboratory trial demonstrating coexistence of wavelength-agile PON with existing GPON will also be presented.

Luxpert Technologies announces XFP, 80-km SFP+, single channel EDFA

LuXpert Technologies of Korea has announced three new products ahead of OFC/NFOEC. They include a 10-km XFP optical transceiver, an 80-km SFP+ optical transceiver, and a single channel miniature EDFA.

The DLXP-x31xx7-3G 10-km XFP is the first of a family of transceivers to be offered by Luxpert Technologies. The multi-rate module operates from 9.95 to 11.3 Gbps and supports SONET/SDH, 10-Gigabit Ethernet, and 10-Gigabit Fibre Channel standards. It offers a power consumption of less than 1.6 W.

ColorChip unveils DragonFly 40G LR QSFP transceiver

ColorChip has announced the availability of what it touts as the industry's first QSFP 40G pluggable LR transceiver. An alternative to CFP  transceivers, ColorChip's DragonFly 40G is the smallest of its kind for ranges of up to 10 km, the company asserts.

Infonetics analyst sees brighter 2010 for optical equipment market

The optical market will grow in 2010, but the Asian part of that market may not. Spending on 40-Gbps technology will resume. And SONET ADM pizza boxes will remain popular. So said Andrew Schmitt, directing analyst for optical at Infonetics Research, yesterday in an interview occasioned by the release of the company’s fourth quarter 2009 numbers (see "Infonetics: Positive Q4 can’t rescue 2009 optical equipment market").
